Piper Halliwell and Mark Chao had something truly special. Their spark, their easy natural conversations, their connection. Their love was the real deal! In his one episode appearance Dead Man Dating, Mark captivated the hearts of viewers and he remains a favorite in the fandom. I’ve always been a Piper & Mark shipper. The bond they made in one episode alone says a lot about the couple they would have been. I even think Mark would have been a better match for Piper than Leo (sorry fandom!) seeing as how natural they were with one another. Had the circumstances been different, I have no doubt that Mark would have become a permanent addition to the Halliwell family. I wanted to take the time to pay homage to Mark and Piper for the life they could have had, the life they deserved! Here is some commentary on what things would be like “At home with Piper and Mark”:

Cooking would definitely be a major part of their life and a hobby they would really enjoy together. 

Piper: “Well, I can talk about food all night long.” 

Mark: “Yeah? Well I can talk about it forever!”

These two would be making so many happy memories in the kitchen together! The meals they would make together would have all the yummy flavor of traditional home cooking with a twist of gourmet flair you would find at the most prestigious high-end restaurant. After a couple of years being together they would certainly perfect Mark’s peking duck recipe and countless other recipes from Grams and Mark’s family collection. When they finally get the confidence to open the restaurant of their dreams, it would become the most popular restaurant in San Francisco!

Another thing Piper and Mark would enjoy together is reading. Mark would actually be able to continue the book he was reading, The Plague by Albert Camus. Not only would he finish it, they would have finished it together, reading passages to each other out loud.

“A loveless world is a dead world. And always there comes an hour when one is weary of prisons…and all one craves for is a warm face, the warmth and wonder of a loving heart.”

Piper and Mark would read all the great literary classics together. They would also sit together on the steps of the front porch together at night reading passages of poetry to each other while looking up at the stars.

Mark would definitely know how to romance Piper and make sure she knows how loved she is. He would make sure to make little magical moments with her each and every day. With sweet gestures like flowers, cuddling by the fireplace, and slow dances in the kitchen, the fire of Mark and Piper’s love would never subside. They would walk through life hand in hand together and their happiness would never fade. They would certainly be playing scrabble in the happy future of Forever Charmed, and Piper would probably still be winning!

My awesome charmed buddy rainy-day-witch and I were recently talking about the possibilities of Piper and Mark’s kids and how Wyatt, Chris, and Melinda would be affected had Mark been their father instead of Leo. One thing is for sure, we would have little bilingual Halliwells speaking both English and Chinese! Since Wyatt was named using Leo’s last name, if Mark had been the father, his name would have turned out to be Chao Matthew Halliwell. We know that Chris was named after Leo’s dad, so since Mark’s dad was unnamed on the show, my charmed buddy and I came to the conclusion that he would likely take on Mark’s mother’s name, making him Lei Halliwell. Melinda of course was named after their ancestor Melinda Warren, so her name would still be the same, Melinda Halliwell. If Mark had come back as a whitelighter after he died, many of the storylines involving the kids would have remained the same. Chao would still be the twice blessed child, Lei would still be the time traveler on a mission to save his brother, and Melinda would have still been the once forseen daughter from the future in Morality Bites.

I could go on and on about all the amazing things that would have come out of Piper and Mark’s future together! I hope you enjoyed my little homage to Piper and Mark as much as I enjoyed making it. If there are multiple universes, I know that Piper and Mark are out there somewhere, together, smiling and laughing with joy in their happily ever after.
