Women Like Bad Boys 5% More Than Nice Guys On Clover Dating App

Why Is This Important?

Because nice guys still finish last, but not by much and not everywhere.

Long Story Short

Dating app Clover tallied up how many likes its female users gave to "bad boys" or "nice guys" and it turned out that the so-called bad boys did 5% better. However, in certain places across the country women are looking for a sensitive guy more than a rude one.

Long Story

Nice guys finish last -- that's what the story has been for decades. But is it true? Women tend to go with the nice guy in the end and if you're a good guy who is nice, instead of a nice guy who feels entitled to women liking him, you'll probably do just fine. Still, the bad boy is still usually seen as the winner -- and I'm sorry to do this, but there's more cannon fodder for that argument.

Dating app Clover scanned through two million profiles and looked at popular words and characteristics associated with each person. Guys that had words like family, friends, cuddling, reading, romance, love, volunteering and honesty in their profiles were seen as nice guys. This group amounted to 69% of the total users. The other 31% were labelled bad boys, with words such as drinking, sex, tattoos, motorcycles, party, piercings, smoking and hookups in their profiles.

Unfortunately for nice guys, women liked bad boys 5% more -- but there's hope for you nice guys out there. A city like Denver, Colorado, appears to like a good sensitive chatter -- as nice guys got 50% more likes than bad boys there. Nice guys are also preferred in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and yes, even Las Vegas.

Cities where bad boys dominate are Miami (22% more likes) and New Mexico (they got 97% more likes than nice guys there, yikes). "Tattooed bikers" also get 43% more likes across the country, but "friendly romantics" and "cuddling bookworms" do similarly well.

So, is it time to pack up and turn yourself into a bad boy? No. These labels are ridiculous. What's even so bad about tattoos? I've seen tons of nerdy hipsters with tattoos and I wouldn't call them bad boys. And drinking, partying and sex -- ohhhh only bad guys do those things. Do bad boys not have any friends nor care about their family? If only the world were that black and white.

Want to attract women? Be confident, do you and respect yourself as well as the woman. Do that, and you'll be just fine -- motorcycle or not.
