Short guys dating tall girls - important
Taller Women And Shorter Men Reveal How They Really Feel Dating One Another
I’ve always been on the taller side. Even though I claim I’m 5’10”, I always measure in slightly shorter at the doctor’s office. I blame that on slouching — when you’ve always been tall, sometimes you try to get down to everyone else’s level. Typically, the guys I’ve dated have been my height or taller. Guys who were a lot taller were always the most exciting, since I rarely had the opportunity to feel short before.
To be honest, I’d never rule out a guy based on height. It may be an obstacle, but height is just one of those things you can’t control. It’s like turning someone down based on eye color.
But, sometimes people do. In fact, some short guys just assume they have no chance with a taller girl, even if all of their interests align. Some people may even view a taller woman (or a shorter man) as a red flag. It’s just a bad stereotype that a lot of us have accepted. That is, until now.
A particular question thread on Reddit managed to intrigue a lot of people, because it revealed that minds are changing in regards to height and dating. It asked whether or not men had an issue dating a taller woman, and if women had any issue with dating shorter men.
And, well, short men and tall women should celebrate. So many of the responses were positive and uplifting. Here are just some of the best.
1. The Guy Who Refuses To Feel Intimidated
Sometimes, stares aren’t a bad thing.
Other people have a right to feel however they want about your arrangement. But think about it this way — everyone in that room should probably figure that the shorter guy has a killer personality and an amazing heart. Plus, to reiterate, being on the shorter side is not a pitfall or negative in any way, shape, or form.
2. Kissing Struggles
This one is sweet because it’s honest.
But note that they didn’t say they had a complex over it or felt as if this one struggle would ruin the relationship. It’s just a minor inconvenience, but nothing that’d make or break the love they have for each other. When you want to kiss someone, you just make it work.
3. Height Is Never An Issue
This just goes to show you that for some, it’s the last thing that matters.
Women who date shorter guys are often much more confident with themselves. They don’t care if people look or question — they just want to be with someone who treats them well and loves them for who they are. So if you’re looking to ask out a taller girl? Take a chance, you may be surprised.
4. It’s All About Attitude
This post hits the nail on the head.
If a guy knows and accepts that he’s short, he’s a much better option than the guy who seems to have issues over the fact. Guys, you don’t have to overcompensate. Own who you are, remember that it helps make you unique, and that many women would rather be with a short king who treats them like a tall queen.
5. Insecure Guys Need Not Apply
Sometimes, things don’t work out — but for reasons you may not think.
You’d assume that if a shorter guy and taller girl successfully started dating, the tough part is behind them. Obviously, they both find each other attractive. But if insecurity still lingers, it can damage the relationship. Guys, you are so much more than your height. Your girlfriend is with you because she likes you, regardless of how tall you are.
6. No Limits
Not only is this guy not ashamed to date a tall woman, but he’s not setting height limits.
That means that this is yet another guy who realizes that women are more than height. If she has a great personality and the two of you get along, it’d be ridiculous to completely turn them down based on genetics. Fellow tall girls, that’s full-on permission to stop slouching.
7. It’s Fine, Even With Heels
Good news, ladies. Even heels won’t make a difference.
That means that if you’re a tall woman who prefers them over flats, the right guy won’t make you feel bad about it. If you’re dating a shorter guy who’s nervous about the difference, he may want to have more control over what you wear. This is just proof that the two of you are too incompatible, but for different reasons than he may think.
8. It’s Fine… Unless He’s Lying
Lying on online profiles? It just doesn’t work.
Here’s the problem. The truth is going to come out eventually. Like, say, the first time you meet. Because there’s a big difference between 5’8″ and less than 5 feet. Be honest about who you are, and your date will have so much more respect for you — and not wonder what else you’re lying about.
9. Extreme Heights Can Help Weed Out The Bad Apples
The good thing is that these guys were honest with her about not feeling comfortable.
It’s hard to hear, but the truth is always better. Sometimes, you assume something won’t bother you until you’re actually in the situation. But the good news is that eventually, she found her perfect match and ended up happier than she would have in those other relationships. So really, her height was a win.
10. It’s Worth A Shot
For some men, dating a taller woman is something they’ve always wanted to do.
Of course, unless you’re a tall woman looking for just a fling, remember that you deserve to be more than some guy’s weird fantasy experiment. But, at least it’s comforting to know that there are plenty of guys out there who might like you even more based on your stature. It shouldn’t serve as a deterrent for asking someone out.
11. Some Women Prefer To Be The Big Spoon
Height shouldn’t be tied to gender stereotypes, tbh.
For women who want to comfort someone, or offer physical support in terms of hugs and cuddles, being short is almost ideal. Who says that men always have to be the big spoon? So, go ahead and state your true height on your dating profile. It might find you more matches than you assume.
12. Getting Butterflies
It’s hard to read this response without smiling.
This Reddit user knows that tall girls are something special. Being a girl at 6’4″ is likely quite of a struggle, especially if you don’t play sports (because you’ll be asked about that constantly.) Having someone view them in such a warm and fuzzy way is pretty endearing. Can we have more guys like this in the world?
13. There’s Still A Stigma — But We Hope It’s Changing
Even after all these years, some women still feel nervous about being too tall for their husbands.
These two care about each other quite a lot. But this response makes it obvious that the comments they do get on occasion still sting. It’s 2019 — don’t we have a lot more to worry about than whether or not a woman is allowed to wear heels after dating a shorter man for decades?
14. Men Can Also Be “Too Tall”
Even if a guy is taller than his girlfriend, people might still stare.
Being with a much taller guy might make a woman feel like she’s just a kid. And even worse, the guy might treat her that way too, based on the “are they dating, or is she just a pre-teen” looks he may end up feeling equally awkward about. Again, height is something we can’t control. But it’s just a reminder that there’s no perfect height set-up.
15. Thoughts Happen, But They’re Not Dealbreakers
Of course you may think about genetics if the two of you are talking about having kids.
But, nothing is guaranteed. Genetics work in a funny way. Plus, nobody out there would literally refuse to have children with a short guy they love, just because their kids might be short. And if I’m wrong? Well, that person is incredibly shallow. There’s more to a person than their appearance.
16. Tall Women Leave A Lasting Impression
It’s been years, and this guy is still thinking about the one girl who was taller than him in high school.
When a girl has some height, it makes her stand out. Even though this woman may very well not remember the freshman she once met in high school, he still thinks about her fondly — and mostly because she was over six feet tall. So if you’re a tall girl who feels out of place, just remember that your height makes you even more memorable — and we mean that in the best way.
