One of the newest housewives will be Mary Cosby. There have been rumors that she had to marry her grandfather to inherit the family’s fortune even amid allegations that he was a murderer. All About The Tea reported that there were some shady issues with her now-husband. Mary’s bio for Bravo reads, "Small but mighty and always dressed to the nines, her unconventional past has made her guarded and she quickly finds herself on shaky ground with some of the ladies." Leading viewers to believe there is more to the family story.
Many assume all the women are of the Mormon faith, but Mary is Pentecostal. Mary will be the only African American woman in the cast. She is also the first lady of her family church. The family owns a chain of churches and other businesses. Now, let's get to the important part, the scandal. According to Mary, she was forced to wed her dead grandmother’s second husband just so she could inherit the family business. In order to take over the business she was expected to marry Robert Cosby Sr. The duo has been married for 20 years and has one son together. Robert married Mary when she was only 24. Mary’s grandmother, Rosemary Redmon Cosby died of a heart attack back in 1997 but left behind her million-dollar fortune. After her death an ugly family battle erupted with Rosemary’s daughter, accusing Robert of murdering his wife. Robert was also accused of forging documents.
The rest of the women accuse one another of being swingers and trying to topple one another for the top spot. As for Mary, fans are hoping that she reveals more about her marriage and if she is currently happy in it. As for marrying her grandfather, this story seems to fit the stereotype of Utah and the Mormon lifestyle.
