5) They Don’t Put Effort Into Your Communication. Do imagine how conversations will go in your head, then, once you’re within the conversation, it goes way left? It always seems to either turn into an argument, blame-shifting, or a shut out where both parties get nothing accomplished. This is similar to the discussion we had earlier about having your thoughts heard. The difference is, we are talking about the mutual effort that should regularly occur in intimate relationships. Everything from deciding what to eat, where to go on vacation, or other basic misunderstandings that can occur should have “communication space.” Intimate relationships require a level of understanding and effort by both parties. Effective communication is the ability to listen to others and relay your own opinions/thoughts in response to what the other person has communicated.
The word effort is defined as a vigorous or determined attempt. So, let me make this as clear as possible. If you only hear from them by text message, they don’t value you. If they haven’t communicated when you’re going on a date or the next date, they’re not interested and they don’t value. If you’re the only one who puts effort into having meetings, meetups, phone calls, or quality time, they don’t value you and it’s not your responsibility to put in the majority of the effort. Remember, if the shoe fits, it’s applicable.
6) Their Actions and They’re Words Don’t Match Up. We talked about people not doing what they say they will which is a form of words not matching up with actions. In this particular point, however, I’m referring to a person telling you they love you, value you as a person, worship the ground you walk on, they see a future with you, but they haven’t put in the effort to court you properly, haven’t given you the opportunity for the promotion by giving you more responsibility or recognition, they’re still pursuing other women behind your back, or they haven’t apologized for anything you have openly expressed to them, they don’t value you. It can be hard to believe that some people won’t change. Pay close attention to the actions behind the words.
