Dance First is an innovative creative ballet dance and film project where the dance was choreographed first and the music was written to the dance after it was created and filmed.
Brazilian/Vancouver choreographer Monica Proenca (Center Stage: On Pointe) and young Vancouver based composer Logan Jones (4th Album on Silver in Your Veins now available on iTunes with Nashville’s Carey Ott) teamed up with 7 young classically trained ballet dancers and aspiring young film maker Ethan Cook to create this original work.
After a careful audition process, and months of rehearsals, 7 cameras recorded an amazing dance scape that falls into a dream. Logan Jones then wrote original music – as if the dancers movement wrote the music.
On January 18th the film will debut and for the first time the dancers will see the music that was made from their dance. The film will be wrapped with footage of them coming to see the movie and the reactions of the dancers to hearing the music they “danced to” for the first time.
Logan Jones will host the screening in his personal recording studio, Dunbar Underground Studios.
At the young age of 17, Logan has written over 200 pieces of original music, 4 albums, and composed theme music for 2 television shows “BC Brew On Tap” and “Get Cooking with the Stars”.
“Looking forward to the “Dance First” release”
– Laurie Bell, host of “Get Cooking With The Stars”
His talent has brought him interviews with “On Da Grine TV with Valentine” on Shaw TV Vancouver, Roundhouse Radio 98.3FM, and on The Joe Show.
Looking ahead, Logan Jones is investigating his options for formal education in music, most recently with a trip to Los Angeles to tour the Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music at invitation of the Dean.
Logan is always open to collaborate and hopes to gain experience in writing for more films and puts a call out to film makers to bring him a new challenge.

From London to South Africa, to Nevada to Nashville, to Vancouver to Los Angeles –
This young composer is no stranger to international music work.
The last few months have been exciting for Logan Jones – with the release of his new album ‘Silver in Your Veins’ and a trip to Los Angeles to tour the Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music at invitation of the Dean.
At the young age of seventeen, Logan Jones has had the opportunity to work with many talented musicians across the globe. He most recently returned from a grit filled historic music and film project ‘Silver In Your Veins’. The project is a collaboration with Nashville songwriter Carey Ott, John Smits who brought his sound engineering and music expertise all the way from South Africa to Tennessee, and Vancouver Bassist Nikow Whitworth. Film makers Ethan Cook and Chicago based Jim Quattrocki recorded the project.
Rich in mining history, Tonopah was the perfect location for inspiration with sessions at the Historic Mining Park followed by a performance at the renowned Mizpah Hotel.
The trio then travelled to Darkhorse Recording Studio complex in Nashville, Tennessee, home to multiple Gold and Platinum records, to complete the recording of ‘Silver In Your Veins’.
The album is now released on iTunes: itunes.apple.com/us/album/silver-in-your-veins-feat./id1184558658
Meanwhile completing his 4th album, Logan has also been busy writing for Zoom Fest, working on a special Dance First music video project in collaboration with Choreographer Monica Proenca (Center Stage: On Pointe), and writing theme music for two television series’ “BC Brew on Tap” and “Get Cooking with the Stars.”
“Love the new music you composed for our new season”
– Laurie Bell, host of “Get Cooking With The Stars”
From behind the scenes to in front of the camera himself, Logan has also played live and been interviewed with “On Da Grine TV with Valentine”, and composed music for Center Stage: On Pointe cast who danced live to the music on Shaw TV Vancouver.
Looking ahead, Logan Jones is investigating his options for formal education in music and is always open to collaborate. Logan hopes to gain experience in writing for more films and puts a call out to film makers to bring him a new challenge.

Historic Music Project ‘Silver In Your Veins’ shines the spotlight on Logan Jones
Vancouver teen composer, musician Logan Jones and Nashville Singer/Songwriter/Recording Artist Carry Ott travel to the historic desert town of Tonopah, Nevada for the creative project ‘Silver in Your Veins’.
Joining Logan and Carey will be John Smits, sound engineer/session musician/lecturer at Soundsphere recording in South Africa. Logan, Carey, and John will be composing sketches of music inspired by the atmospheric wonders of the Nevada desert and the township of Tonopah. The tough grit of 1880’s Silver miners and 1940’s bomber pilots will set the stage.
Followed by the live performance in Nevada, Jones, Ott, and Smits along with their support crew head to Nashville where they’ll begin the process of bringing to fruition the Tonopah sketches at the amazing Darkhorse Recording Studio complex. Dark Horse Recording is a 4-studio complex set on a multi-acre plot of scenic farmland based just outside of Nashville.
This chapter of Logan Jones young career will be documented on film headed up by revered Chicago director, filmmaker, and Final Cut editor Jim Quattrocki – http://rockoproductions.com.

At the young age of sixteen, Logan is now no stranger to the spotlight.
This past April Logan had his first television appearance ‘On Da Grine with Valentine’ on Shaw TV Vancouver and returned this month with the cast of Lifetime’s “Center Stage: On Pointe” directed by award-winning Director X (Drake Hotline Bling), as they danced to Logan’s music.
Catching the attention of television producers/hosts Logan is currently working on the theme music for two television series “BC Brew on Tap” and “Get Cooking with the Stars.”
Already Logan has an impressive resume of international work, having worked with musicians from Nashville, London, Vancouver, Toronto, Paris, to South Africa.
Within every city of travel Logan finds musical inspiration.
This past May Logan flew from Vancouver to see his favourite musical composer Brian Tyler conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra in London. Logan had the opportunity to meet Brian at the concert and is now followed by the famous Hollywood movie Composer.
Logan has been fortunate and is thankful to have such great music mentors.
Logan is looking forward to working again with John Smit coming from South Africa, who was the Drummer, bass player and Producer for Logan’s most recent album Platinum Grooves, and Carey Ott coming from Nashville, who has worked on Logan’s Believe album and has been apart of Logan’s Early Years https://vimeo.com/158514038.
“Logan is a musical dreamer whose ideas as a composer and multi-instrumentalist are blooming all the time. He has a knack for painting emotive, melodic hooks over odd time signatures and sci-fi landscapes. His work is simultaneously strange and familiar.
Logan reminds me of myself in that he is always looking for the next creative challenge. Like a surfer always looking out for the next big wave, Logan is ready to ride. I think we’re all gonna be hearing a lot more of Logan Jones music in the months and years to come…”

Vancouver Sixteen year old musician Logan Jones is on his way to London UK this weekend to hear composer Brian Tyler conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra on May 7th
Most parents would never expect their teen to fly across the world to go to a Symphony Music Concert but that is exactly what 16 year old Logan Jones is doing this weekend. Logan is flying from Vancouver Canada to London UK to hear the musician he most admires, “Brian Tyler Live: Film Music for Stars, Cars and Superheroes.” Brian will conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra on Saturday 7 May 2016, 7.30pm Royal Festival Hall in London England.
Interestingly, most teens know and love the music that he is going to catch live – they just don’t know it! Brian Tyler’s films have grossed $ 9.5 billion worldwide making him one of the most recognised and exciting film composers working today. Brian’s music is embedded in feature films including “Furious, “ “Thor,” “Avengers” and “Now You See Me” and the recent feature “Criminal.” Without knowing it, most of us have been swept along the emotional tides of Brian Tyler’s incredible music more than once.
Logan Jones is a musician and composer who can’t wait to hear some of his favorite music live. Logan says, “Teens should be super interested in this music – they love it in the movies they just don’t recognize it yet.”
Logan points outs that Brian Tyler is a rock drummer and this feel of energy and rhythm that inspires him. As the promotion for the concert states: “Step into the fantastical world of superhuman and action adventure with Hollywood composer/conductor Brian Tyler, for an evening of unforgettable film scores from some of the world’s biggest box office movies of all time. Experience the exciting music from Tyler’s most famous scores spanning over 70 films, including the Marvel films, the Fast and Furious films, Star Trek: Enterprise, fan favourites including Children of Dune and game score franchises such as Far Cry, alongside classic film scores that have influenced Tyler.”
Logan says that “Other teenagers should come and experience a full orchestra playing huge music with a rocking rhythm – like in the theater except better, …rock Drums make a good sound – imagine a drum five times the size and instead of a band of five or a backing track of Pop – 100 instruments. I think kids should come an experience it – live, like the movies but better, I am super excited“
Logan is an unusual teen older than his years. A composer himself with his second Album Platinum Grooves on iTunes, Logan sincerely believes that the concert at the Royal Festival Hall on May 7th is a great way for teens and their parents to have a great night out an experience symphony music that all have enjoyed together. He hopes that the concert will get more teens to appreciate symphony music.

Logan will meet composer Brian Tyler back stage at his concert with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London England on May 7th
Sixteen-year old Logan Jones, an innovative, highly creative, and prolific composer who recently released his second album “Platinum Grooves,” is catching the attention of television productions and music reviewers. Logan is ready to take his music to new heights.
In a recent article feature in 24hrs Vancouver by music reviewer Joe Leary “Teen writing the soundtrack of his life” Leary say “At 16, Vancouver’s Logan Jones is the youngest artist to be featured in this column. A multi-instrumentalist, he’s already built a sizeable library of music as he pursues film — and already has a television soundtrack in the works”.
http://vancouver.24hrs.ca/2016/03/31/teen-writing-the-soundtrack-of-his-life
Catching the attention of television producers/hosts Logan is currently working on the theme music for two television series “BC Brew on Tap” and “Get Cooking with the Stars.”
Logan’s interest in soundtracks is inspired by musician Brian Tyler, who has composed music for feature films including “Iron Man 3,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Furious 7.” Since the article Brian Tyler has posted Logan’s story to his audience. Logan will meet Brian in London, England backstage after his concert conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra on May 7th. Logan hopes to have a career like Brian one day.
Grammy-nominated Nashville’s songwriter Carey Ott says of Logan “He is tapping the pure well of creativity”. Logan’s music has also been described as cross genre, pop music accessible and undeniably interesting.
“Platinum Grooves” was forged on the site of a platinum mine in construction with a string quartet during one of Logan’s many trips to South Africa. He also worked with Free State University teacher/producer John Smit to explore African based rhythms to help add new dimensions to his music.
“Platinum Grooves” includes over 70 minutes of music composed by Logan. The sounds include keyboard, percussions, and chords that cross-different genres in a jazz, funk and rock guitar. String quartets can also be found seamlessly knitted into some of the tracks. Each layer of music has been added with a distinct purpose. Logan’s arrangement of sounds is dazzling in profound and affecting ways.
Platinum Grooves is an album of music that reflects Logan’s unique style, creativity and journey. In this album, the tracks “6474” and “Twenty Three” are named after their complex time signatures while “Fight to be Free” gives off a struggling effect. Its theme has connections to Logan’s travel to South Africa and the history of that country. The feel of David Gilmour’s legendary guitar style was Logan’s guitar inspiration for his track “High School Spy”. The dimension of a classically trained string quartet was added to the Platinum Grooves 5-9 sessions at the 1915 building of Soundsphere Studios in Bloemfontein, South Africa. In Platinum Groove 9 the sounds of hammering metal and vehicles gives ethos to the mine building in Africa.
Logan’s love for music started at the age of 3 with the French horn as his first instrument. He started playing it by lying on the carpet and playing it sideways. That was enough to fire his passion for music and to take music onto a whole new level in his own signature way. He developed a multifaceted interest in music that has brought him from playing guitar, drums and keyboard to writing and composing his own. Logan is definitely talented, highly creative, deeply passionate, and wise beyond his years.
Logan has worked with musicians from Nashville, London, Vancouver, Toronto, Paris, to South Africa. He has recorded at the famous Fader Mountain (Little Mountain Sound Vancouver) where the greats from Aerosmith to Hedley and Rage Against the Machine have recorded. Logan has also worked with Grammy nominated songwriter Carey Ott. Logan’s inspirations for his music come from rhythms and harmonies of all music types across continents and decades. Music heroes whose work has influenced Logan’s style are Mark Knopfler, Herbie Hancock, Pink Floyd, Sting in addition to the movie music of Brian Tyler. Logan’s first album “Believe” produced by Dunbar Underground Studios was released in 2014 and can be purchased on iTunes. Famous music producer Garth “GGGarth” Richardson at one of Logan’s gigs said, “I can hear his influences and I can hear him inventing for himself many things that have come before”.
Logan takes his inspiration from many experiences. He recently travelled to Honduras for a week in the jungle and a week of diving. Throughout the week, Logan completed underwater survey work and had 9 dives in total, each one at a different site, providing a great variety of coral to explore and new marine life sightings. The trip was a paradise for inspiration – with a waterfall showers and beautifully rich wildlife.
Logan lives in Vancouver, BC and looks forward to more opportunities to write for film, television and video games. Logan composes his music at Dunbar Underground Studios – but also leaves time just to write for fun.
