Yes for the most part puerto ricans and blacks get along. And your more likely to see black men date a pr girl than pr guy date a black girl

i myself am perfect example, my mothers mixed with jamaican indian and black, and my father is just puerto rican, but i mostly see PR girls dating black dudes, but you see PR dudes dating blacks girls(but its usually light skin blacks, or mixed).

Umm..Blacks and PRs get along..and Blacks and Italians, and PRs and Greeks, and Yemeni's and Mexicans, and on and on..if groups did not get along in such a small area, NYC would implode. Yes there are SOME in every group, usually kids, who "don't get along" with some random group...it's especially prevalent in High School of course...but when people grow up, I think they grow out of the vast majority of the ignorance/immaturity. And the fact that we don't have race wars in NYC, and considering that every group in the world is represented here, proves this point.

So to answer this question and others...everyone, in general, gets along with everyone else. Otherwise NYC would be like "Escape from NY."

I know a lot of puerto ricans who don't like blacks.There are some who get a long though.

@ Tony that is definitely wrong bro... Most of my life I lived in a majority Black community that had a decent PR population, I was one of them, and for the most part we got along better than any other hispanic race has with the blacks... I personally think that Blacks feel more comfortable with PR hispanics because when we moved into these neighborhoods we assimilated into the culture as opposed to let's say Dominicans or Mexicans or Ecuadorians where for the most part they tend to keep to themselves...

Granted, you have your exceptions to each rule but I do find that to be the case in NYC... and at sobroguy, not having any problems with eachother is one thing but getting along is a completely different issue... you can be indifferent to one another but not have race wars which is what we see in NYC in many cases... that being said, there is truth to your statement seeing how over the years people of all different races and nationalities have become much more accepting with other cultures... but to say that mostly everyone in NYC gets along because if we didn't there'd be race wars is a bit of a stretch...

Well there was a time when people did not "get along"...through the 50s and 60s, and there were major racial upheavels throughout the city...anyone around at that age can attest to that. That has subsided greatly..and in fact the vast majority of groups do get along...I would not say it is indifference, but neither is it one big happy family. In general however, everyone is respectful to everyone else, and considering all the interaction and movement of people throughout the city, it is more mutual respect than indifference, hence why I believe we get along.

Blacks and Puerto Ricans get along, in fact out of all groups in the city they get along better than PR's do with other hispanics and black americans do with African immigrants. Black Americans and West Indians do get along but not as well as black americans and Puerto Ricans, both groups have been around each other longer than the other new comer groups. They've experienced alot of the same discrimination and social issues throughout the 40's,50's and 60's. They also created hip-hop culture together. Even many 2nd generation Dominicans get along with Blacks, atleast where I live. I've seen many PR guys with black girls, but like everyone says its more common to see it the other way around.

The only instance I can think of in recent history of blacks and PR's not getting along is in the prison system, and even that isn't 100% true.
