Married at First Sight viewers might remember Mia Bally as the controversial bride who was actually arrested while departing for her honeymoon.
What happened to Mia from season 7 of Married at First Sightafter her time on the show? Viewers might remember Mia Bally as the controversial bride who was actually arrested while departing for her honeymoon. However, that wasn't the only unusual thing about her marriage. It wasn't the most eventful moment in her season, either.
Bally's stint on Married at First Sight began with a rustic Dallas wedding to a baby-faced entrepreneur named Tristan Thompson (no relation to the KUWTK star). At the altar, the two had an instant physical attraction. After exchanging vows, they realized they had a lot in common. Both of them are people of faith and both are involved in the business world. Mia and Tristan also have outgoing and sparkling personalities. It seemed like the experts had made a successful match. Bally and Thompson were set to depart a Dallas airport for their honeymoon when she was arrested and detained on charges of credit card fraud and stalking. These were outstanding warrants against her that the show's extensive background checks had failed to unearth. The experts left it up to Thompson to decide how to proceed since his safety and trust were paramount to the Married at First Sight 'experiment'.

Thompson leaned into his faith and decided to stay with Bally. As the season progressed, they had a couple of big fights that further threatened their union. Thompson made a financial decision without consulting his wife. He also took her to task after spotting a dating app on her phone. The experts had to intervene both times. Surprisingly, come Decision Day, this couple opted to stay together. Then, the very next day, the MAFS cast members argued for the last time, after Thompson was spotted looking at a photo of an ex-girlfriend on social media. Tristan and Mia gave different versions of the events that happened next. She said he was fawning over the woman; Thompson said Bally was overreacting. Either way, it was enough to make this couple reconsider and file for divorce.
Dr. Jessica Griffin, who is one of the Married at First Sight experts, weighed in on the split: "I'm disappointed in how two people we've had so much admiration for are so hurt ... and at the same time, I don't see this as a failure. I think both of you have learned so much about yourself, you can apply to the relationship you want."
Since divorcing Thompson, Bally's primary focus has been centered around clearing her name. In March 2020, Bally's ex Jared Evans (he's the man behind the credit card and stalking allegations) was arrested on charges of domestic abuse and child endangerment in an unrelated incident. Bally took this as an opportunity to speak her truth about the years of abuse that she endured during their relationship. She admitted to being too embarrassed to speak about the abuse sooner. She did point out that Evans used her participation in Married at First Sight to get revenge after she left him.
Bally has become actively involved with a charity called Genesis Women's Shelter and is now a staunch advocate for women's rights. Her appearance has also changed considerably since her time on MAFS. She's lightened her hair and has even partnered with a few companies on social media for some endorsement opportunities. Although her Instagram has been private for some time, Bally was last seen traveling and enjoying her newly single lifestyle. Meanwhile, her ex-husband is engaged to a beauty queen named Rachel Ashley. Thompson popped the question in June 2019, and the couple appears to be very happy.
Mia Bally may have polarized the Married at First Sight fanbase while on the show, but it's evident that she has moved on from the controversy. Rebranding herself as an advocate for abused women, as well as rebuilding her professional life, is a testament to her fortitude. Given Bally's past, she may not be ready to go public with any post-MAFS love interests. If there is someone special in her life, hopefully her relationship with that person will be a longer-lasting and more fulfilling experience than those she has worked so hard to put behind her.
