Springfield police say trio used dating app to lure in robbery victims
Police say a trio used a dating website to lure unwitting victims to a Springfield apartment and then rob them.
An'wahn Gates, 23, Mario Hubbard, 31, and Alayna Adamson, 22, were charged last week with two counts of first-degree robbery after police say they trapped two victims in their scheme.
According to a probable cause statement, Springfield police were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of South Robberson Avenue, near downtown, on Wednesday night where two men reported being robbed.
One of the men pointed police toward the suspects who were trying to leave the area in a blue Chrysler.
The statement says police were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the three suspects — Gates, Hubbard and Adamson.

According to the statement, both victims reported essentially identical incidents that happened at different times during the day.
The men allegedly told police they had been communicating with Adamson on the dating website Seeking.com and agreed to meet up with her at an apartment on South Avenue.

The men said Adamson invited them inside and after they sat down on the couch two men — later identified as Gates and Hubbard — came inside and robbed them at gunpoint, according to the statement.
Gates and Hubbard allegedly threatened to retaliate against at least one of the victims if he reported the robbery.
All three suspects are being held in the Greene County Jail and do not have attorneys listed for this case. They face possible life sentences if convicted.
