Irish cafe owners go viral after seeking caretakers for stunning coastal island
We've heard of competitive job opportunities - but this story goes above and beyond.
Alice Hayes and Billy O'Connor, who run a coffee shop and accommodation on Great Blaskey Island off the coast of Kerry, posted a tweet on January 10 saying that a vacancy was open for a unique position.
They wrote: "Looking for long term management of Island Accommodation and Coffee Shop. Couple or two friends."
Within hours, the untouched beauty of the Island had thousands of people responding to the tweet, begging to be given the chance to take on the job.
One user wrote: "I'd absolutely love this, how could I convince the wife".
Another wrote: "I will take that position!!! I have always wanted to go to Ireland, my great grandfather was born there and it is a goal for me to go. Working there would be awesome."
News of the vacancy quickly went viral, with international media sites like CNN picking up on the overwhelming response.
Hayes and O'Connor live on the nearby Dingle Peninsula, with O'Connor running boat tours to the island in summertime.
Together, the couple refurbished the island's three holiday cottages and look after its coffee shop.
The 1,100 acre island has some fantastic views and landscapes, with wind turbines providing plenty of electricity for those staying there.

The idyllic location of the island, on top of the chance to spend the summer there, led to thousands of people sending their CVs to the owners.
Just nine days after first sharing the vacancy, Hayes and O'Connor said that they'd had over 23,000 applications.
They wrote on Twitter: "We are beyond overwhelmed at the response for the job post. Posting the advert last year, we were concerned we would not find ANYONE. We have received over 23,000 applications. If only we could get everyone who applied to stay for one night , we’d be fully booked for..
"...the next 30 years. Again, a HUGE thank you to everyone who took time to apply , we can’t explain how much your interest means to us -So sorry if we haven’t got back to you yet, our inbox is chocca block. Hopefully we will meet you all sometime over the next 30 years."
It's safe to say that they'll have plenty of options to choose from. We're not jealous at all...
