I've never done a photoshoot before. I'm nervous. How do I prepare?  

There is nothing to be nervous about. This will be easy and fun! I promise. And if you don't believe me, check out the testimonials to help ease your mind. Show up, be yourself, and relax. I'll take care of the rest. I have 20 years of experience as a photographer. I've got you! 

What should I do about my hair, make-up or facial hair?

If you want to get a haircut in advance of the shoot, do it the week before. Let it grow back in a little so it looks natural and not so "just came from the barbershop!" Ladies, if you want to get a blow-out beforehand, let me know and we can schedule accordingly. Otherwise, come as you are. No need to stress or overthink this. For make-up, wear as much or as little as you normally do. You want to look like your photos when you show up for that date. If you don't normally wear any make-up, consider a little mascara and lip tint or lipstick. Nothing dramatic, but it is always nice to have a little something extra to pop the eyes and lips. 

Gentleman, if you want to bring a shaving kit and start the shoot with a weekend stubble and progress to a clean shaved look, we can do that. Just let me know so I can plan accordingly. 

What is included in your packages? 

All the packages include a short consultation on your current profiles, insights on what I learned as a woman dating in NYC for eight long years, and what I've observed and learned from Tinder Photography clients. Some of my clients have felt that the insights alone were worthwhile. Then, depending on which of the three sessions you choose, we will do a combination of photos inside and out, creating enough images for 1-2 dating profiles. 

What happens after the shoot?

After the shoot, I will spend some time with your images in post-production. Each set-up/outfit we do will get adjusted for color and contrast, further differentiating each set-up from another to avoid the appearance that all the photos were taken on the same day.

Do you retouch the photos? 

Any minor blemishes will get cleaned up and minimized through the color/contrast correction. The session does not include retouching of individual images. Retouching of individual images can be costly and if that is something you are interested in, we can discuss it. After seeing the final images, 99% of the clients do not feel retouching is necessary. 

How will I get my photos?

I send all photos to you via via Dropbox two weeks after our shoot. You will receive four folders: 

1. A copy of every image I took of you that day. 

2. A selection of images that I thought worked well.

3. The same set of selections with color and contrast corrected.

4. The best of the best edits.

I deliver my sessions this way because I want you to have the greatest amount of flexibility and agency, but also be guided by my advice and expertise. 

Does it matter which photos I use as my opening image on Tinder or another dating app? 

Yes. Your choice is critical. I'd be happy to explain this more during our session.

Will good photos increase my chances?

Yes. The majority of men swipe on 66% of the images they see compared to women who, on average, only swipe on 6%. You could be a great guy, but having a really hard time getting a match that you are excited by because your picture is subpar. Consider good photos an investment that yields excellent ROI. Imagine how much time and stress you could avoid if you got better quality matches and matches that are eager to chat with you. 

How many session slots do you offer each month? 

I only provide 25 sessions per month. I want to make sure that I give you my full attention during the session and in the post-production process. By limiting the number of sessions, I can make sure each client gets the best of me. The limited sessions also give you a competitive advantage. Say there are 100 single men around your age group in the same zip code. A better photo of you would outrank and outperform them. By limiting the number of sessions I offer, I help make sure you have fewer competitors with great photos. 

Do you provide the wardrobe or are we shopping in my closet? 

You must provide all wardrobes for the photoshoot. Once your session is confirmed, I will send you general guidelines on how to think about clothes and what to bring the day of our shoot. On the day of the shoot, we will look through what you brought with you together and I can help you make the final selections. 

Should I stress about my wardrobe and what to wear for the photoshoot? 

It's important to look good. Our clothes say a lot about us. But that doesn't mean you need to stress about it. If you are a super casual guy and live in t-shirts and jeans, that's fine. Make sure the shirts are clean, neat, and pressed. There is nothing wrong with keeping it simple. We just need to make sure that it's a neat and clean version of minimalism living. No one wants to date a slob. 

If your work requires a suit or a more formal look, that's great too. I don't know a woman who does not love a man in a well-cut suit. Please feel free to bring a selection of that and we will work it into the rotation for the shoot. 

In general, I recommend a mixture of casual and formal, with a mix of four casual and two formal looks. What would you wear for a Sunday brunch with friends in the West Village? Let that be your guide. 

Should I plan for a shot in my yoga clothes to show off my body? 

That is entirely up to you. I'd be happy to photograph you out and about in your yoga attire. Athleisure is in! The jury is out on whether that is an effective strategy to attract the person of your dreams, though. There are plenty of ways to show off without needing to be in a bikini or spandex. A well-cut sundress will do that just the same and it conveys ease and confidence in a different tone. 

How will we manage wardrobe changes? 

The majority of the photos are from the waist up which means we will change tops (shirts, sweaters, jackets) more than bottoms. For the sessions that include an indoor portion, we will shoot the head-to-toe changes in there, such as you in a suit. Once we go outside, we will keep the changes simple and quickly swap out tops. If you are modest, I would recommend an undershirt. Ladies, I would recommend a tank top. When possible, we can find bathrooms to give you more privacy for the outfit changes. 

What is your take on a shirtless pic? I've worked hard for my six-pack.

I understand your desire to get some credit for your rock hard abs. I'm in awe. It takes a lot of work and commitment to get it and keep it. However, that shirtless photo does not convey the message that you want to send. 99% of the time, it reads as desperate, and that is not the message you want to send. 

Let's leave something to the imagination. It's sexy to lean in at the end of the night for that good night kiss and discover your rock hard abs quietly hiding under that cashmere sweater. 

Do you offer consultations and feedback for my online dating profile? 

An independent consultation is $250. I'd be happy to give you feedback on your current profile as part of our session. 

Can you help me write my profile? 

I can give you some general guidelines on how to best create your profile. I've got a few tricks and tips that I'd be happy to offer. I don't currently offer the writing service myself, but I'd be happy to recommend someone. 

Should I use different photos on different dating apps? 

This has proven to be a good strategy for many clients and it is being adopted more widely. Everyone is on multiple apps, which means it could be to your advantage to have different sets of photos for different apps. It could increase your odds.
