Dating timeline to marriage

Although the 2017 Met Gala was only a year ago, a lot has happened in the time since then. The event marked the start of relationship rumours between Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas and after months of speculation, this summer confirmed what we were hoping all along–romance was in the air for these two celebs.

However (this being the summer of love that it is) an inkling of romance wasn’t enough and now Chopra and Jonas have become the next couple to get engaged. With Hailey and Justin, Ariana and Pete and a handful of other superstar proposals, there really must be something in the air. Check out our relationship timeline below to see how these two went from a red carpet non-couple to our new favourite pair.

May 2017: Met Gala Debut 

The photographs that started it all. Chopra and Jonas arrived at the Met Gala together, posing for pictures side by side and immediately firing up rumours that they were a couple. They were also photographed together later in the evening attending Rihanna’s after party at 1OAK.

May 2017: Chopra Shuts Down Dating Rumours

The same week of the gala, Chopra is asked about the relationship rumours on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She explains that she and Jonas were both wearing Ralph Lauren and were both seated at the designer’s table, therefore they decided to show up together. Regardless of her quick dismissal of any romance, the pair genuinely looked like they had a blast together at the event.

October 2017: Chopra Congratulates Sophie Turner on her Engagement

Turner announced her engagement to Joe Jonas over Instagram and Chopra was quick to comment an excited “Yaaaaaaaaaaay!” underneath the post. Looking back now, W Magazine quoted that the comment could be interpreted as a sort of “welcome to the family.”

May 2018: Memorial Day Weekend 

After months of relative silence on the Chopra/Jonas relationship front, Memorial Day Weekend brought an explosion of renewed interest. Exactly one year after their Met Gala debut, the two were spotted getting super cozy. From pictures that show the two cuddled up together on a yacht with friends, to a night out at the Hollywood Bowl watching Beauty and the Beast Live, to catching a Dodger’s game together, the two seemed inseparable. Still, it was difficult to distinguish if the relationship was a friendship or a romance.

May 2018: A Good Old-Fashioned Dinner Date 

Speaking of romance, the pair were spotted together again shortly after, this time sharing dinner at Toca Medera in West Hollywood in Los Angeles. “They were very affectionate with each other and seemed to not care who saw,” a source told People. “Priyanka ran her hands through his hair at one point and they were laughing and even dancing to the music.”

June 2018: The Proof is in the Comment Section

Although the pair’s Instagram accounts are devoid of any couple photos, the comment sections helped reveal that the two were definitely getting more flirty. “That smile,” Jonas posted on a picture of Chopra and some friends enjoying burgers at In-N-Out. He accompanied the comment with a heart emoji. Chopra has also been spotted leaving sweet messages. “Who is cuter? Lol” she asked under a video of Jonas and a koala at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney.

June 2018: Jonas Brings Chopra to his Cousin’s Wedding

So, Chopra has officially met the fam! Jonas brought Chopra as his date to his cousin’s beachside wedding in Atlantic City, New Jersey earlier this month. The two looked the part with Jonas in a dark navy suit and Chopra in a shimmering gold wrap dress. The two celebs also attended a family brunch together the next day.

June 2018: Vacation in India 

After Jonas introduced Chopra to his fam, the actress wasted no time introducing him to hers. The couple travelled to India, going out for dinner in Mumbai with Chopra’s mother shortly after arriving. The two were then spotted at the airport leaving for Goa, along with other members of Chopra’s family.

June 2018: Instagram Official?

Jonas and Chopra finally, kinda, made their relationship debut on Instagram, with Jonas sharing a video of the actress shimmying towards the camera in the Mumbai monsoon. “Her ?,” he captioned the video, with a heart-eyes emoji. Only a few days later, Chopra mirrored the post with her own Instagram story of Jonas captioned, “Him ?”. The post was taken on the other side of the world as the couple hopped on a plane once again, this time from India to Brazil for a concert performance by Jonas. Chopra took the Instagram video from her spot in the audience, capturing the singer in action like a number one fan (or super cute girlfriend?). There’s been no official announcement yet, but after these super sweet matching posts, we think it’s safe to say that something is definitely going on here and whatever it is, we fully support it!

July 2018: Moving in together?

Jonas and Chopra have continued to be attached at the hip. From traveling together, to celebrating the Fourth of July, to hanging out with fellow couple Joe Jonas and fiancée Sophie Turner, the two can’t seem to stay away from each other. “Priyanka and Nick are still very serious. They have a very healthy relationship and truly are a good pair,” a source told E! News last week. “Nick has basically been living in Priyanka’s New York City apartment with her and they spend a lot of time together. The next step is him permanently moving in, and it has been a discussion.” Celeb relationships have been moving so fast recently, but the source added that there’s no rush for the pair to get to the altar any time soon (despite the fact that they’ve been photographed wearing matching rings).

 July 2018: Engaged?!

In late July reports began to surface that the pair had gotten engaged, with People breaking the news. According to the magazine’s source, Jonas had rented out an entire Tiffany’s store in New York City in order to handpick the perfect ring.

August 2018: Chopra Reveals a Very Sparkly Ring

Could this be the first glimpse of the engagement ring? Yesterday Chopra’s friend, Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon, posted this cute snap of the pair pouting. But what really caught people’s eye was the sparkly rock in the bottom right corner of the frame. A ring expert from RareCarat.com told Ellethat it looked to be worth over $100,000.

August 2018: Chopra and Jonas Confirm Engagement Rumours

The couple confirm their rumoured engagement with matching posts on their respective Instagram accounts. Jonas writes, “Future Mrs. Jonas. My heart. My love.” While Chopra captions her pic, “Taken… With all my heart and soul…”

August 2018: The Couple’s Families Come Together for a Traditional Roka Ceremony

In another set of matching posts, the couple shared photos of them posing together with family at a traditional roka ceremony. A roka ceremony is traditional in India and acts as an official confirmation of the upcoming marriage. The event, which happens before the wedding, is a chance for the couple’s families to meet each other. Jonas’ parents traveled to India to attend.
